All fees and charges are regulated by the provisions of the Aged Care Act 1997 and are amended from time to time by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing, that administers these arrangements.
Each Resident is charged a Daily Care Fee equivalent to approximately 85% of the full single rate of pension payable by Centrelink. Non pensioners are required to pay a higher Daily Care Fee. Non-pensioners and part-pensioners may be required to pay an additional Income Tested Daily Care Fee as determined by Centrelink. Charges will be determined by Centrelink on receipt of the application entitled “Request for an Assets Assessment”. This is contained in the package ‘Five Steps to Residential Aged Care”, or ask at Reception.
All Daily Care Fees are paid monthly in advance. Based on the financial information provided in the Application Package, residents may be liable for payment of an Accommodation Charge.
This Charge is calculated on the resident’s assets and ranges from Nil to a maximum daily charge (figures available on request). The Accommodation Charge is calculated on a daily amount and charged monthly in advance. It is payable for the total length of stay.
You will note that there are three classifications for residents . . .
Concessional - Assisted - Non-Assisted
As per the Resident Agreement and Resident Status Classification, if concessional status is proposed and ultimately the resident is found not to meet the concessional criteria then, providing the assets at entry exceeded the minimum amount, the resident will be liable to pay an accommodation payment, back-dated to the date of entry. Proposals for concessional status will be checked by the Department of Health and Ageing.
